Upcoming Cars in 2016-Part III

The year 2016 has been more than promising to say the least with the competition in almost all segments being hotter than it has ever been. The compact hatchback, the compact SUV and premium sedan segments have generated a lot of popularity. Luxury car makers like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have been quite aggressive in the previous years and the same intent is being shown for 2016. With that in mind let us continue with the final list of the most anticipated cars of the year 2016.

9. Audi A1

There have been a lot of new entries lately in the premium hot hatch segment and therefore it is no surprise that Audi is set to take a plunge in the category as well. Audi A1 is set to appear at the Paris Motor Show in the latter part of the year where we would be able to get a clearer picture of the hatch has in store for us. However several spy shots have come up in recent times and rumors suggest that the actual product is going to be pretty close the speculated model. Under the hood, Audi A1 is expected to hold a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine that would carve away 225PS power with the engine being mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission system.

8. Volkswagen Passat

Another big name on the list is that of Volkswagen Passat. The luxury sedan is one of the most elegant vehicles in its segment and is a popular car globally but in the Indian market, Volkswagen Passat faced some tough competitors. The sedan scores high as far as appearance is concerned, with an aggressive front fascia. With its MQB platform, Volkswagen has been able to reduce the overall weight of Passat by 85kgs. Under the hood, the sedan carries a 2.0L TDI engine that generates 187bhp power and will be mated to a DSG dual-clutch gearbox. There is another engine variant with the twin turbo diesel motor that can carve away 237bhp power.

7. Ford Mustang

Ford Mustang is by far one of the most celebrated cars in the world since decades. The iconic image that this performance car holds in the pop culture is enough to symbolize what it represents for the car enthusiasts around the world. With its signature bold styling, Ford Mustang comes with deck spoiler; stainless steel twin exhaust rolled tips and tinted window glass that adds value to its already beautiful exterior. On the engine front Volkswagen Passat comes with a 3.7 litre Ti-VCT V6 motor that has a displacement of 3720cc generating 305bhp power at 6500rpm and a maximum torque of 380Nm at 4250rpm. There would be two options as far as the transmission system is concerned including a 6-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic.

These were some of the best cars that car enthusiasts would be looking forward to this season and most of them would be looking to get their hands on the same. However those who cannot afford such luxurious brands can look out the second hand market of cars to get their pre-owned Audi cars or used Jaguar cars.

6. Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Facelift

One of the major heavyweights expected to come out this year is the powerful SUV from Mahindra in the form of Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Facelift. The vehicle is already available for sale in South Korea and is expected to come to India soon. We have already seen a glimpse of this beast at the 2014 Auto Expo. The SUV is expected to feature a 2.7-litre diesel engine with the Mahindra SsangYong Rexton Facelift said to be getting quite a few cosmetic updates including modified radiator grille with projector headlights in addition to a tweaked tail light cluster.

5. Skoda Octavia vRS

Skoda Octavia has done extremely well in the Indian market as far as sales are concerned with the Czech automaker hitting the right notes in the premium sedan segment. With a good sales credibility for backup, the popular automaker is bringing a high performance of the already successful premium sedan in the form of Skoda Octavia vRS. The fundamental look of the car remains the same compared to the original model but there are some cosmetic changes that give a much sportier appearance especially with the new bodykit, chrome plated exhaust tips, LED daytime running lights and redesigned front grille. There would be two engine options for the premium sedan including petrol and diesel. The petrol trim is backed by a 2-litre turbocharged unit that gives away 217PS power whereas the 2-litre TDI diesel engine that sheds 182PS power. Both the engine will work in sync with a 6-speed dual clutch manual transmission system. The sedan can go from 0 to 100kmph in 6.8 seconds for the petrol trim whereas the diesel trim can achieve the same milestone in 8.2 seconds.

4. Fiat Viaggio

Fiat Viaggio will be the first product from the team of Fiat India that would be competing in the segment of executive segment. The appearance of the car is based on the beautiful Dodge Dart but comes with a few tweaks and adjustments including a redesigned front and rear bumper. The engine of the car is extremely powerful with a 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol unit that generates 120PS and 150PS power depending upon the variant chosen by the customer. Top Cars in 2016-Part 1

There were plenty of new cars that made the year 2015 quite special and therefore it is natural to expect 2016 to deliver similar results if not better. We have already seen the Indian Auto Expo 2016 bring in a lot of spectacular offerings in almost all the segments including hatchback, sedan, luxury cars, SUVs and what not. Therefore to make things easier we have drilled down a list of cars that were or rather are the pick of the future. We have compiled a list of best upcoming cars that are set to release for the year 2016 or cars that have already launched this year. So let us begin.

3. Mercedes-Benz GLE Facelift

Mercedes-Benz has been trying to get rid of the M-Class and now with the Mercedes-Benz GLE Facelift, the company will be burying the name for once and for all. The Mercedes-Benz GLE Facelift is a beautifully crafted SUV that features a classy exterior offering two wraparound headlamps on both sides and elegant looking LED tail lamps with dual exhaust system. Under the hood there are two variants of the car including a 2.2 litre V6 engine and 3 litre V6 engine. The two displacement options are extremely powerful too with 2143cc and 2987cc. The engine would be mated to a 9 speed transmission system which is a change from the 7 speed transmission system with the former offering much more efficiency than the latter.

2. Toyota Innova Crysta

Toyota Innova has been ruling the roost since the last decade and has been the highest selling MUV in the market. However the competition has been tightening up since then and therefore it was no surprise that the Japanese Automaker came out with the next generation MUV dubbed as the Innova Crysta. The MUV is heavily loaded under the hood with a 2.4 litre engine that gives away 160bhp power and 400Nm torque. The second engine variant features the 2.8 litre turbo charged diesel motor that sheds 177bhp power and 450Nm torque.

1. Volkswagen Vento Facelift

There has been a big rise in the demand for four wheelers in the Indian market and the German automaker Volkswagen would be betting on the same. The compact sedan is one of the most popular and the most competitive segment in the country and therefore Volkswagen is coming with the much improved facelift version of Vento that offers enhanced features in the safety department along with a more comfortable interior. The compact sedan is likely to be available in variants of both petrol and diesel. The diesel trim is expected to be backed by a 1.5 litre motor that would churn out 89bhp power and 230Nm torque. There could be a 1.2 litre petrol trim as well that should deliver 74bhp power and 110Nm torque. We can expect both the motors to work in sync with a 5 speed transmission system.

The Indian automobile market has seen a lot of new segments rise like the compact SUV and microSUV and therefore the coming months would nothing less than exciting.
